Founded in 1972 by Frank Bachelier, Osage River Barge Company began as the first floating restaurant at Lake of the Ozarks called “The Barge”. It quickly became a staple at the lake to both locals and tourists. It was family owned and run by Frank and his wife, Tracy. In 1994, Frank decided to start Horseshoe Bend Dock Service here at the lake as more people started to come. By the year 2000, it was clear how popular this area was becoming by the wave action that was beginning to cause damage to the shoreline. Shortly after selling the restaurant, Frank pioneered the first “rip rap” operation here at the lake in attempts to prevent further damage to the sea walls and shoreline.
